On the occasion of the beginning of the Holy month of Ramadan; The Omani students' society of Victoria had organized a Trivia night and Ifter gathering. The mentioned event took place on the 15th of September 2008 under the auspices of the Consul General of Sultanate of Oman in Melbourne Mr. Hamed Al-Hajri.

 It was attended by a large gathering of Omani students studying in various universities in Melbourne and other Omani trainees.

The program started after breaking fasting and the prayers with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. A number of students presented some lines of poetry honoring the holy month of Ramadan, our beloved country Oman and His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

At the end of the gathering, prizes were distributed to the winners of the Trivia night competition by Mr. Hamed Al-Hajri and the winners of the open day activities which included football, volleyball, table tennis and other sports activities.

On the other hand, the president of the Omani Students society of Victoria Mr. / Hamed bin Ahmed bin Saud Al Busaidi, had stated that the society will be organizing various activities this year including its major event, the graduation ceremony which is to be held in may. In addition, the society will organize an exhibition for the first time in the state of Victoria to mark the national day of Sultanate of Oman.
